peachy keen and pieced together

what's your colour for summer? faced with such an impressive array of sorbet shades (thank YOU, christopher bailey), and the usual, although gorgeous florals, it's hard to just pick a few. are you going all safari chic and choosing khaki, or braving the ever-controversial (is it off-white, is it cream) nude, or perhaps embracing all things nautical with a good helping of blue and white? there's nothing to say you can only have one, of course, but for me, i've chosen peach. not blindingly obvious, and i do really love peaches, but there's something about this subtly sexy and equally grandma-ish colour that has me hooked. it looks good when you're pale, and good when you're tanned. you can dress it up for a summer wedding, and dress it down for beach frolicking. luckily, a handful of designers have embraced my love of all things peachy and creamy, and so i've started spotting a few familar shades of faint pink cropping up on the runways. the other thing i've noticed? jigsaw dressing! i love it. dresses made from fragments of similar or albeit completely contrasting fabrics, sharply structured or free-flowing and loose, it's the the coolest blanket your nan never knitted you. is this a chance to shamelessly plug michael van der ham? maybe, but he's not the only one...

alberta ferretti. the contessa of the subdued brings us honey-hued peachy tones, iridescent and softly draped, with that sneaky jigsaw puzzle structure creeping it at the top there

burberry prorsum, in a crayola box of pastel shades, the peaches pop out again. nicely toughned up by the shoes, and yes, it's a more a pinky peach, but an interesting variation nonetheless.

viktor & rolf. baring more that just a passing resemblance to a slice of edam, this sort of goldy-creamy peach with the blasted-out holes is sort of j-lo meets gogo yubari.

celine, the cream of the crop. i actually see the colour orange when someone says celine, and that's a sort of peach, right? it's fruity nonetheless. here's my first peach buy of the season:

(if you just thought "my, isn't that short!" you officially became my mother. congratulations.)
what's your colour for summer?

Great write up on this colour.. I just love those peachy shades, preferably in silk!
I have a great thirties camisole in a dusky pink shade, and a great little satin jacket.
I like the Alberta Ferreti creation pictured here.
Oh & your dress is great!
Thanks for commenting.

These peachy hues are more subdued and sophisticated than the ones I wore in the 80s. You look lovely in that dress, great with your skintone!

I love this dress, it's so so pretty.
I've just bought a dress in a similar colour, so summery! So my colour's similar to yours.
I'm also really liking a pastel blue in the form of my RL jumper and an American Vintage A Line strap top from work. Yum... x
