back on good form

let's not beat around the bush here: a large proportion of my life is currently irregular french tenses, comparative judicial independence and 16th century love prose, but i have still managed to squeeze in a bit of the old label lusting. i had my first exam this week (on thursday, a french oral, i think it went okay) which is why you've not heard much from me in the past couple of weeks. while what i'm going to do with the rest of life is not exactly fixed, i don't want any decisions made for me. and i don't want the decision of whether or not i attend university this year to be decided by unsatisfactory exam results. so, studying has to be a priority. but, if you want something done, you should ask a busy person. i'm not good a lot of things (blow-drying my hair, cooking, not laughing at inappropriate moments) but one thing i can do is time management. so with a few less parties here, a little more downtime with textbooks there, i'm managing to squeeze some press events still. not as many as i'd like, and it kills me to RSVP no, but hey, the really special ones will always make the cut. anyway, hipsters rejoice! for this week i attended the urban outfitters press day. i sort of expected to be swimming in jeffery campbell litas (i did spot one pair..) not be able to move without hitting a diana, but i was pleasantly surprised with some of UO's new season pieces. one thing i do like about them, is that in age of uninspiring window displays and unintuitive shop layouts, urban outfitter's visual merchandising is seriously on point. their stores are eminently shopable, and it pays in dividends for them that the regular customer doesn't have to do a lot of work to put a whole outfit together there. they do it for you. check out some of my favourites from the event.

this week i was also delighted to receive a care package all the way from hawaii, from the lovely shin at fashion cappuccino! if you'd like to be involved, pop me an email. also, never use royal mail surface mail. turns out that stuff goes on a BOAT. not a plane. a BOAT.

shin sent me: a lovely address book i'm using to house business cards, some yummy chocolate macadamias, a topshop skirt, and a bunny i've named obama. still waiting on his birth certificate, though...

UO always does good stuff, at their stores are so easy to find stuff in.

I guess 'surface mail' as opposed to 'air mail'? So they must just make a point of it!

The reason why Gap is bleeding is because Urban Oufitters is eating it's lunch. Remember those days when all the cool kids were sporting Gap and Tommy Hilfiger?

Well, Urban Outfitters is the new destination for them now. That is why they are so on point. They're 'in-tune' with what's going on in their target consumer's mind.

Well written as always and, I know where the birth certificate is...

I love UO, but every single thing I have ever bought from there without exception has broken/unravelled/developed a hole from nowhere. So I've stopped shopping there, cause it's too expensive for that kind of nonsense.

Those dark red shoes look highly covetable! Ah yes, exams and time management. I can relate to all this (mine start this week). I would say "good luck" with yours - however, it's obvious that you won't be relying on luck, just on good old hard work.
