dreamy days, and the afternoon tea diaries - part two

i think i'm having a bit of a pastel moment. i can assure you it's not intentional; i've never looked at my wardrobe and thought "you know what this needs? a big dollop of sorbet shades." and i can't even blame it on the weather, as summer seems to have came, saw and conquered in april. yeah, none of us appreciated it then. we all muttered bitterly through our hot cross buns, when really we should have been getting territorial over an extra inch of towel-space on the beach and considering ice cream a food group (wait, is that just me?) because that was the closest thing to hot weather we'd be getting. recently, i've found the fashion climate a little dreamier: the ever-increasing popularity of the fanning sisters, and their ever-ethereal charms, the hailee steinfeld for miu miu campaigns, the sofia coppola-esque editorials cropping everywhere and even the resurgence of lomography has got me feeling seriously dreamy. i picked up this white full circle skirt in river island (disclaimer: this may or may not be the exact same skirt marilyn monroe was wearing in THAT photo. i'm considering sewing rocks into the hem of this thing.) and i've paired it with so many things. people always seem to think whatever i'm wearing it with is a dress, though! it's called high waisted, guys. my top is from topshop via eBay.

to be totally honest, i think my affinity for pastel shades might have something to do with what i can only describe as the advent of the macaron. this time last year, you couldn't move at a press day for cupcakes. now, the canapé du jour is the macaron (which is brilliant for my fellow gluten-avoiders). in honour of her birthday, i took my bestie chloe to the brand new ladurée tea rooms in covent garden to enjoy some cakey goodness. a fancy tea room in such a tourist hotspot gives the simultaneous pleasure of enjoying something sweet with the horror of seeing a lot people wearing socks with sandals. and fighting off pigeons. enjoy!

a massive thank you to chloe for taking all these snaps on her shiny, brilliant camera.

I knew that you would look fabulous in pastels. The lighter, sorbet-colored clothes look amazing on you. You have the perfect complexion to pull off these colors. :)

I'm having a bit of a love-hate relationship with pastels, but on you they look preeetty! Total exception are macaroons naturally. So gotta check out the tearoom in Covent Garden! xoxo

You look gorgeous. I love the floral bustier. I am seriously considering getting one now. The only reason I didn't include Garance was b/c I thought she was already overwhelmingly popular in the blogging world. I guess I'll add to her the list now anyway then.
