let's make a french connection

okay, before we dive into the pretty dress ooh-ing and aah-ing, i need to address a couple of things. first up, the reason i haven't been posting so much, and when i have, comments have been off is largely because i haven't had internet access. a blogger with no net, right?! it's like a fisherman with no...net. i've moved out of home to a place i share with three other cool kids in london, and one of the teething problems has been internet, but it's looking a little more sorted now. the other things are: i started my degree course (which takes up a lot of time), i started doing posts for ldnfashion (which takes up a little time), i now also assist a stylist (which takes a lot of time in concentrated bursts) and i'm also working on a possibly super-secret project, assisting one of the coolest fashion journalists out there. so...it's all go. but i'm back, for now, and regular posting will hopefully follow!

a few weeks ago, french connection offered to let me play dress up with some of their new collection. dresses on the high street are kind of ubiquitous, and the quality can often be pretty poor, but french connection is kind of in a class of its own. the stuff they sent me was beautifully made: we're talking fine pleats and TONNES of embellishment, as well as fitting really well. i think why i like french connection is that they definitely take inspiration from the catwalk, but their stuff isn't disposable. it's not trend-led, so to speak: they manage to make classic items using contemporary inspiration.

this dress is the perfect pleat belted dress.

they also sent me an out-and-out PARTY dress. it's an online exclusive, so you wouldn't see it in stores, but it's so pretty! i wore this to susie's sequin themed leaving do, which you should read all about and get REALLY EMOTIONAL like me. we'll miss you, beautiful!

I love French Connection, particularly cos they seem to cater well for taller ladies like myself! It's a treat to buy something there as they are quite expensive!

Both dresses are beautiful hun! I have a major strong love for pleats, I think they're so flattering! Did an OOTD post on a rose printed maxi dress with pleats that I absolutely adore! And goes without saying that starstruck dress is just dazzling :) Looking beautiful as always!

'A blogger with no net, right?! it's like a fisherman with no...net.' I was laughing so much at that! The dresses are beautiful. I've never noticed before what you said about F.C being classically contemporary. Very interesting.
