a little more dramatic

this year, i've done a lot of living out of a suitcase. nothing exotic, mind; i've flitted between about five residencies all within about a twenty mile radius, from flats in london to house-shuffling in kent. just when i'd got settled for summer at my parents', a friend had a room going in north london, and i knew i'd be working through these months, so it made sense to cut out the commute and uproot myself once more. i am currently writing away from my newest digs; a big ol' townhouse, in the middle of a quiet, residential area. it's definitely one of the safest places i've ever lived, and i completely love it. these photos, and the next few posts' worth were taken before the move in my garden at home. i haven't quite worked out where i'll blog in the next few weeks so...watch this space. my friends at greene & shepphard pr introduced me to shakuhachi when i was in their showroom last week. a pretty new brand, they make the most incredible, quirky, clever occasion wear. think giant floral applique, crazy embellishments and carefully placed slits to create pieces with some real bite. i borrowed this hallowe'en ready frock to show you, and paired with my other new love - armani's rouge lipsticks. harper's bazaar gave me this super-dark, berry-red stain to try, and while i usually shy away from a bold lip, it seemed perfect with the dress. wine red lips are huge right now (kate bosworth, met gala, perfect) so i might go over to the dark side this season. it does feel a little much for everyday wear though, maybe?

Being a student, I feel like I live out of suitcase too! I split my time between uni, home and sometimes my boyfriends too. It's nice to be back settled for the summer. Hope you're settled in your new home, I've never lived in a big town! x

I always love a good dark lip - probably is a bit much for day time but I've decided I don't care what everyone else thinks anymore :L

The dress is seriously beautiful, I'm a huge fan of Shakuhachi - their draped pieces are amazing! I love the little slits & pink accents on this. I think the makeup & the lipstick in particular suits you perfectly & no it's too much for everyday! :)

I remember when I used to live between my boyfriend's house and my parents place, and how much I hated it!

On a positive note, I adore the dress! Shakuhachi is such a fabulous and creative label - I've been a fan for some time now. And girl, you can totally wear the lipstick every day. Why not? Make a statement! :)

Beautiful photos. The dark lips really suit you.
I used to live out of a suitcase during university summers, it does make you really ruthless about what things you absolutely need to carry around with you. Now I have my own place I have become a bit of a hoarder! x
