season after season, louis vuitton just get it so right. they reinvent their own classics, introducing denim to their iconic shapes, mixing in swatches of exotic skins to add a touch of luxury to the everyday and putting the louis vuitton travelling girl firmly on her most fashion-forward foot. i adore their events for this reason; i always know i'm going to find familiar faces with their accessories, but always with a clever new spin and a few new seasons treats to lust after. i loved the "capsule wardrobes" hung up in neat sections on the walls, each a perfect day-to-night outfit for the modern, sophisticated traveller. there is too, the unwavering vuitton attention to detail that makes the brand stand out in a crowded market; bags can be heat-stamped with the owner's initials, and their shapes include the most delicate patches of different colours and skins to create a truly sublime accessory. the bags are crafted, really, not made, each one the result of months of delicate workmanship at their atelier to create the pieces. more than just arm candy, louis vuitton continue to craft luxury goods worthy of their acclaimed status. this plus the yummy macaroons and cocktails made it a blissful way to spend a sticky wednesday morning, in the middle of some of the busiest weeks of my year. i'm moving (again...) in september, so i've been sorting out deposits and viewing flats, being commissioned for pieces in the run up to london fashion week, and preparing for marie claire, where i start next week. wish me luck! i've also been making an utter mess in the kitchen; my spelt cookies were good, the loaf of bread i attempted resulted in black smoke wafting from my mixer, cartoon-style. eek. looks like i won't be ousting nigella from her domestic goddess status any time soon...beans on toast, anyone?
