at home with gilly hicks

it's time to embrace light layers. i'm not bundling up so much when i step outside, but there's some pretty chilly winds in london right about now, so i still want a little bit of extra warmth. all my winter jumpers are seriously chunky knit, and are starting to choke me after fifteen minutes on the central line, so i reasoned with myself that there was a knitwear shaped hole in my life. i never thought i'd be much of a gilly hicks girl. surfing's not my bag, and i'm one for wearing tea dresses even when i'm sat at home alone, so i'd almost ruled out the brand as one that could slot into my wardrobe. but, i love a good jumper (i have so many i kind of need a separate wardrobe just for them), and i've had my eye on this super soft, easy fit gilly hicks one for a few months now. i love how cosy it is, but the relaxed fit - you can wrap yourself up in it, or let it tumble off the shoulders. teamed with some cigarette trousers and my ever-faithful converse low-tops, it's the perfect casual outfit that still keeps me warm. the lovely brightness of the jumper stops it being too slubby - i haven't been able to take it off! gilly hicks are best known for their undies, and i love the fit of their bralets and pants - cute, sporty numbers with a good dash of pretty from lace edges and sorbet colours. in store, i found myself getting alongside the brand better than i expected; it's not just for surfer chicks, it's for easy-going, chilled out girls who still want a little bit of pretty with their cosy. in fact, my friend susie said this jumper was very jane birkin...

Jumper looks so cosy, I can see why you bought it. I hate branding to be visible on clothes though! But that's just me.

This looks nice and cosy! Unfortunately these chunky jumpers just don't suit me, and having ridiculously narrow shoulders would mean that this would just keep falling down!

Great post girl! I have been a manager for the GH brand for almost five years now and did a 2 year international assignment to bring the brand to the U.K. back in 2010. I have to say the pieces are a fabulous way to pull an outfit together and make a casual girl feel and look special! Keep up the good work in londontown!! I miss it xo
