it's party season, y'all! that's right, it's that month window in the year when it's acceptable to wear sequins all hours of the day, double glitter (that's glittery eyeshadow and sparkly lipgloss) and drink mulled wine at breakfast. no? no, okay. i'm one of those people that hugely enjoys the process of getting ready (providing i'm not in a rush) and me being me, that obviously extends to skincare. if i've been out all day and i'm going out in the evening, i usually like to take my make up off and start again, as it can start to feel a little gross and tired. plus, a blank canvas is always good. however, once i take my make up off, my skin can feel a little tight, and need a bit of pepping up before it's ready for make up. recently, i've been loving the elemental herbology purify and soothe cleanser* - i was using the cool and clear, and when i ran out, i decided to try this one. don't get me wrong, i loved cool and clear, but when my skin is dry, why i wasn't already using this one, formulated for dry skin, is beyond me. it's full of argan and sesame oil (which is the first ingredient) as well as a little cocoa butter and marshmallow extract (we're getting into dessert territory here) to really soothe dry skin. of course, it being an elemental product, they have some patented goodies, including one that has the richest source of omega 3 and 6. despite it being a balm, it works fine with the clarisonic, as long as i work it into my skin a little first. i'd kind of accepted that my face would always feel a little dry after cleansing, but since trying this, my skin's been super-soft and plumped up. next, a mask is the perfect pre-party skin prep. i usually go for something radiance boosting rather than detoxifying, and recently i've been using aurelia's cell revitalise rose mask*. it's so thick and buttery, and feels gorgeous on the skin - as someone prone to blushing that doesn't budge, this really calms my skin and leaves it feeling really soft and ready for make up. i tend to leave it on for about ten minutes. the mask is full of probiotics, superfood extracts from the baobab fruit and nourishing oils, making it super healing and really gorgeous. finally, once i've rinsed that off, a pump or two of wild about beauty's rosewater illuminating serum. it's got a lovely pearlescent tint that makes your skin looks super glowy, but it's light enough to not interfere with primer, or make your face feel sticky, so i'd recommend it to oiler types too. and there you have it - glowy, happy skin that's ready for a night out.
